Alts or altcoins are the name given to every cryptocurrency coin that is not bitcoin (Ether, Litecoin, Dash, Monero, Neo…)

The reason I choose BTCdirect is because it works fast and secure, I’ve never had any problems with them. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, MisterCash/Bancontact or plain old bank transfer.
They take a 1% fee on the current bitcoin market value which is a lot lower than some other companies offering bitcoin for sale. Most payment options do have an extra fee for the payment method itself, but bank transfer doesn’t have any. But you will have to wait few days for the bank transfer to complete before you’ll receive your crypto. Other payment methods take maximum about half an hour.
You will need a digital wallet to store your cryptocurrencies, there are a lot of mobile app wallets which make this easy (Copay for example is a well known bitcoin wallet available on iOS and Android) but this could be less secure than other methods .
